Performance Therapy Academy was created by Ari Gronich, ‘The Performance Therapist’. Ari has worked with Olympic, Paralympic, professional, and amateur athletes for the length of his almost 20 year career. Ari has over 25,000 hours of hands-on work and 5000 plus hours of training and internship. Ari is highly trained and certified in many disciplines within the fields of bodywork, emotional release, energy work, nutrition, health, kinesiology and sports therapy. Creator Eric Chessen, M.S. is an exercise physiologist with an extensive background in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Eric has integrated the teaching strategies from ABA with working knowledge of exercise, and developed his own model and methods for implementing successful fitness programs for children with Autism. Eric dedicated to not only providing fitness services to young individuals on the spectrum, but to educating other fitness trainers, PE and APE coaches, parents, therapists and other professionals on how to optimize development through exercise. Eric is also the creator of the Autism Fitness Toolbox, a comprehensive, step-by-step guide for developing effective, appropriate, successful exercise and adaptive pe programs for autism and special needs populations.
Autism Fitness Level I Certification: This certification is the culmination of Autism Fitness programming strategies tested, implemented, and refined over a decade. There is no other training like this in the world and a must if you’re planning or already are bringing fitness programs to those with autism.
Cancer Exercise Training Institute
Creator Andrea Leonard is certified as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and a Special Populations Expert by The Cooper Institute, and a continuing education provider for AFAA, ACE, and NASM. Andrea is also is part of the Hedstrom Fitness/BOSU® Development team. Andrea is a 33-year cancer survivor and has/had nineteen first-degree relatives diagnosed with cancer.
Cancer Exercise Specialist Advanced Qualification: Developed for health and fitness professionals seeking to attain a higher level of mastery and work with cancer patients during and after cancer surgery and treatment and into survivorship. Participants will gain a complete understanding of the entire cancer process from diagnosis and treatment to reconstruction and survivorship.
Breast Cancer Recovery Specialist Advanced Qualification: Like the CES qualification, this qualification is for professionals to attain a higher level of mastery and work with cancer patients. Using the BOSU® Balance Trainer, participants will learn how to prescribe corrective exercises for muscle imbalances and range of motion deviations, as well as exercises to promote lymph drainage.
Diabetes Motion Academy
Dr. Sheri R. Colberg is the founder of Diabetes Motion, a web site dedicated to helping educate people with diabetes about physical activity, and creator of Diabetes Motion Academy, which provides continuing education programs for fitness and other health professionals. She is an internationally recognized authority on diabetes and exercise; she has led the way in shaping physical activity guidelines for many professional organizations, including the American Diabetes Association, American College of Sports Medicine, and American Association of Diabetes Educators. Dr. Colberg has been a successfully funded research and is the author of 10 books, 18 book chapters, and close to 300 articles. She is best known for Diabetic Athlete’s Handbook, the only book of its kind for active insulin users, as well as Exercise and Diabetes: A Clinician’s Guide to Prescribing Physical Activity. In the past two decades, she has dedicated her career to providing education and guidance to help people with diabetes exercise safely and effectively.
Diabetes Training Programs: Arm yourself with more knowledge about how to guide your clients with diabetes or prediabetes to be active safely and effectively. Three courses available: Beginner (I), Intermediate (II), and Advanced (III).
Fitness Education Seminars
Fitness Education Seminars was founded by Dr. Evan Osar. Dr. Osar specializes in bringing advanced training and rehabilitation strategies to the fitness and bodywork professional that works with the pre and post-rehabilitation and general population client. Additionally, he has developed over a dozen resources including courses, manuals, and DVD’s to support the educational needs of the next generation of health care professional. His mission is to help fitness professionals think bigger about their role in the lives of their clients.
Integrative Movement Specialist Certification: The Integrative Movement System is based on the principles of human function and movement. This program was created for health and fitness professionals who work with the general population and are looking to meet the very specific needs, wants and challenges that working with the general population can present. Each module is designed to take your perspective, assessment and application in the areas of functional anatomy, assessment, biomechanics, corrective exercise, and program planning to the next level.
Fitness Learning Systems, Alzheimer’s Disease Prevention and Intervention

Alzheimer’s Disease Prevention and Intervention, Medical Fitness Specialist Certificate Program: There is currently no cure for fatal Alzheimer’s disease and prevention is key to avoiding this 6th leading cause of death in the U.S. Fitness has been found through research to be instrumental in prevention. As the world population continues to grow and live longer, the issues of accompanying cognitive decline, dementia, and fatal Alzheimer’s disease are becoming more prevalent, significantly impacting quality of life, health care systems, and the economy of many countries. This specialist certificate prepares you to provide valuable intervention for clients with the disease, and to help others prevent and delay cognitive decline.
The workshop is led by Trevor Wicken. Trevor has been a medical fitness practitioner for the past 15 years. He is the owner and developer of multiple medical fitness continuing education courses that train fitness, and therapy professionals how to use exercise to manage medical conditions, reduce chronic pain, and prevent recurring injuries. Trevor’s mission is to partner with individuals as they walk through the process of recovering from illness, healing from injury, eliminating the side effects of medical conditions, and creating of healthy lifestyles through the power of movement.
Two physicians and a dance movement specialist created this program to help improve the physical and emotional well-being of adults and children. The goal is to elevate the quality of life through therapeutic exercise and movement; healing body, mind, and spirit. In 2014, Bonnie Vermillion purchased the Healthy-Steps/Lebed Method program from the Lebed family. She now teaches 8 Healthy-Steps classes a week. Bonnie is certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) as a group instructor and has the advanced certification for group instruction from the American Senior Fitness Association. Bonnie Vermillion began using The Lebed Method after developing lymphedema in 2002. She became an instructor in 2007, a trainer of instructors in 2010 and a trainer of other trainers in 2014. All of her training has been under the direction of Sherry Lebed Davis, co-founder and President of The Lebed Method.
Healthy-Steps Instructor Certification Training: Healthy-Steps program improves overall wellness, range-of-motion, balance, strength, and endurance, as well as emotional well-being and self-image. Offered worldwide, Healthy-Steps/The Lebed Method has been proven to help enhance the well-being of those with Cancer, those with lymphedema, or other chronic diseases or medical conditions. Thee certification workshop provides you with access to everything you need to begin and grow a successful Healthy-Steps program.
Pink Ribbon Program
Creator Doreen Puglisi, MS is a former college professor and renowned international presenter. With a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science, 24 years as a business owner, academic educator, and Pilates instructor, she provides a unique perspective on both theory and practice. Doreen transformed her professional—then personal—experience with cancer into a successful therapeutic exercise program for breast cancer survivors. The Pink Ribbon Program originated when Doreen began working with breast cancer survivors as an exercise physiologist and Pilates instructor. This recovery program was well underway when Doreen faced her own cancer diagnosis. She applied the Pink Ribbon protocol to her own recovery.
Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist: The goal of this interactive course is to provide the participants with a knowledge base that is essential to the successful evaluation of the breast cancer survivor, from diagnosis to treatment, recovery, prevention of lymphedema and proper exercise guidelines and protocols.
Dr. Rick McAvoy, PT, DPT, CSCS has specialized in Aquatic Physical Therapy and Sports Performance for over 25 years. He works with Master Spas the largest swim spa manufacturer in the world educating and promoting aquatic fitness, rehab and training. Rick is a published author and researcher in the field of Aquatic Therapy and Fitness as well as Sports Performance. Rick is sought after Master Instructor in the Burdenko Method, a specialized form of dynamic aquatic and land-based techniques. Rick lectures nationally and internationally throughout the year teaching the benefits of Aquatic Therapy and Fitness and Sports Performance to health clubs, athletic institutions and health care practices.
Medically Based Aquatics: In the ever changing world of Healthcare with Growing costs and insurance cuts there is a demand being created for a cost-cutting alternative that reinforces health and decreases clinical visits. We continue to see the gap narrow between rehabilitation and fitness. RMA trains health and fitness professionals to harness the power of aquatic training. Level 1 Stress Management Exercise Specialist™ (SMES): You’ll be able offer personal training for stress management, instruct the Mindful Stretch™ class, and offer one on one meditation sessions that are customizable. This program blends well with medical programs that your facility may already use.
Level 2 Stress Management Exercise Specialist™ (SMES): As a level 2 RES, you can instruct the Mindful Stretch class and Reflective Meditation sessions. You will be helping individuals to cope with stress in their daily lives.
Julie Tupler is a Registered Nurse, Certified Childbirth Educator and Certified Personal Trainer. She developed the Maternal Fitness® Program in 1990 and for over 20 years has been teaching and developing the Tupler Technique® Program for treatment of diastasis recti for women, men and children. Since developing the Maternal Fitness® program, Julie has developed a substantial and loyal client base and is now teaching the Tupler Technique® program to medical and fitness professionals all over the world She has written two bestselling books– Maternal Fitness and Lose Your Mummy Tummy, produced five DVD, and developed the Diastasis Rehab Splint®.
Tupler Technique® Training Program: The Tupler Technique® is the only research-based exercise program proven to effectively treat a diastasis recti. The goal of the Tupler Technique® is to heal the weakened connective tissue that joins your outermost abdominal muscles. As the connective tissue becomes stronger and shallower the muscles gradually come together. To become a Tupler Technique® Trained Professional and learn how to specialize in treating diastasis recti, you must complete an intensive training program and successfully pass a written and 30 minute demonstration exam.
Dr. Steffany Moonaz is the founder of Yoga for Arthritis, an organization bringing evidence-informed, kosha-based yoga programs to people with arthritis nationwide, as well as educating yoga professionals to work safely and effectively with this population. Dr. Moonaz is a yoga therapist and researcher in Baltimore, MD, specializing in rheumatic diseases. She currently serves as Assistant Director of Academic Research at the Maryland University of Integrative Health, which offers the nation’s only MS in yoga therapy. She received her 200-hour Yoga teacher training at Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville in 2003 and her 500-hour training from Yama Therapeutics. In 2011, she was commissioned by the Arthritis Foundation to develop an Arthritis-Friendly Yoga DVD, which has been their best-selling product ever since.
Teacher Training, Level I Intensive: Combining ancient yoga practices with modern medical knowledge, this program offers modifications to address the unique abilities and limitations of persons with rheumatoid and/or osteoarthritis. In a 7-year randomized clinical trial, program participation was associated with improved arthritis symptoms, disease biomarkers, physical fitness, psychological functioning and quality of life. This training program qualifies yoga teachers to safely and effectively impart rigorously researched yoga practices, with individually-tailored modifications, to those with arthritis and its related conditions.
Teacher Training, Level II Intensive: Expand on the material learned in Level I, and learn about advancements in the field of Yoga research as it pertains to arthritis, as well as developments in the recommended management of arthritis. After you complete your first Level II course, you are eligible to be a Certified Yoga for Arthritis teacher.
