ABOUT US

dambrogioThe D’Ambrogio Institute is an international organization providing continuing education and certification based on the manual therapy seminar programs developed by Dr. Kerry D’Ambrogio.

Dr. Kerry D’Ambrogio, D.O.M., A.P., P.T., D.O.-M.T.P., is a physical therapist, osteopath and board certified acupuncture physician. His integrative blend of both Eastern and Western medicine, prompted by a whole body pre- and post-treatment evaluation (ARTS), is the key to unlocking perplexing pain and biomechanical issues. This method surpasses the tendency in Western medicine to merely treat the patient’s symptoms locally, at the site of pain, instead of searching for the root cause of their complaint. His integrative blend of both Eastern and Western medicine, prompted by an initial thorough whole body pre and post treatment evaluation (ARTS), is the key to unlocking perplexing pain issues for patients. This method surpasses the traditional tendency in Western medicine to merely treat the patient’s symptoms locally, at the site of pain, instead of searching for the root cause of their complaint.

The seminar series, at the D’Ambrogio Institute, reflects this core philosophy and was developed to train practitioners to perform the full body evaluation (ARTS) and, more importantly, to incorporate the most effective treatments strategies to obtain optimal results for the client.

The seminar series at the D’Ambrogio Institute reflects this core philosophy and is designed to train practitioners to perform the full body evaluation (ARTS) and, more importantly, to incorporate the most effective treatment strategies to obtain optimal results for the patient.

The D’Ambrogio Institute offers the following courses through the International Alliance of Healthcare Educators (IAHE).

D'Ambrogio InstituteTotal Body Balancing (TBB), expands on the work and teachings of John Wernham D.O. (Body Adjustment). TBB is a total body evaluation and a 5-phase treatment approach. TBB uses long levers (arms, legs, head/neck or torso) and rhythmic mobilization to release tension in the muscles, fascia, joint capsules and ligaments to improve circulation, nerve, and energy flow. This helps to normalize sympathetic and parasympathetic neurological activity while the use of long levers maximizes effect with less effort on behalf of the practitioner. This long lever approach of rhythmic mobilization influences all systems of the body including the lymphatic, the visceral and the craniosacral, myofascial and musculoskeletal systems and serves as an overall support and integration for specific treatment. This is called a maximal approach and treats the body as a whole. Learn more…

D'Ambrogio InstituteJoint Balancing (JB) expands on the work and teachings of Dr. Fred Mitchell, Sr. D.O. (Muscle Energy Techniques). The purpose of JB is to treat joint hypomobility, hypertonic muscles, and fascial tension. JB is a direct manual therapy technique in which the practitioner positions the patient’s affected joint at its restrictive barrier in 1, 2 or 3 planes of motion. A gentle isometric contraction is used to relax and lengthen the muscle and/or fascial tension and normalize the joint dysfunction. Learn more…

D'Ambrogio InstituteMuscle Balancing (MB), expands on the work and teachings of Dr. Lawrence Jones D.O. (Strain and Counter-strain) and Positional Release Therapy. The purpose of MB is to treat protective muscle spasm by inhibiting muscle spindle activation, thereby decreasing afferent impulses to the brain. By interrupting this pathway, the patient’s muscle is allowed to assume a normal resting tone thus relieving the tender point, protective muscle spasm, fascial tension, joint hypomobility, and pain. D'Ambrogio InstituteThese three courses introduce you to the myofascial release concept of Fascial Balancing (FB). You may be familiar with many different fascial techniques such as myofascial release, visceral manipulation and craniosacral therapy. These approaches are all built from the osteopathic principles of Fascial Balancing. The purpose of FB is to treat fascial tension or scar tissue which can be found at the superficial level, the deep level around muscles, bones, joints, sutures, and organs and at the deepest level around the brain and spinal cord. As a student, you will learn what fascia is, where it is found, its role in the body, and how it gets injured. FB helps to reduce fascial tension, muscle tension and pain, and will help to increase joint mobility, decrease swelling, and restore proper joint biomechanics, functional ROM and postural alignment. FB utilizes both short and long lever mechanical, and listening & following fascial balancing techniques to address fascial dysfunction. Learn more…
